Bukharian Jewish Tajik Persian Ushoqi Samarqand Ensemble Shashmaqam Ghazali Zebunniso

The Bukharian Jewish Ensemble "Shashmaqam" under the leadership of Fatima Kuinova and Shmuel Kuinov, sing a song called "Ushshoqi Samarqand" in Tajik, the language of the peoples of Central Asia including Bukharian Jews and Tajiks and a second language for Uzbeks. Samarqand is a tradtionally Tajik city in present day Uzbekistan populated with a majority of the population speaking Tajiki. Most Bukharian Jews, Tajiks, and Uzbeks sing songs like these at different festivities such as weddings or on a stage in front of an audience. The language of the Bukharian Jews is called Bukhori, or Judeo-Tajik, and is very mutually comprehensible with colloquial Tajik from the Northern Dialects. The lyrics were written by the Sufi Poet Zebunisso (or her pseudonym Makhfi), the eldest daughter of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir.

Lyrics in Persian/Tajik:

Biyo ki zulfi kaju chashmi surmaso injost,
Nigohi garmu adohoyi dilrabo injost.

Karashma – teg'u, mija – xanjaru nigah – almos,
Shahodat ar talabi Dashti Karbalo injost.

Agar bihisht tu dihandat firebi kas naxu'ri,
Qadam zi maykada berun man'i, ki jo injost.

Kitobxonayi olam varaq-varaq justam,
Xati tu didamu guftam, ki: 'Muddao injost!'

Zakoti husn agar medihi baroyi xudo,
Biyo ki Zebunniso hamchu man gado injost.

Persian empire had in pass and has in present only three(3) legal dialects, which is : 1) Today Iran and all its today territory small dialects,,, 2) Bukharian tajiks with its all historic territories named Bukharian Emirates(also here all today Tajikistan and on that territory dialects included),,,and 3) Afgani/Dari with all their small ethnic dialects. So here is no any such Bukharian jewish language exist. So they just speaking on Bukhara tajik language and nothing else…

@sunarchi92 The Tajiki Persian language survives in Uzbekistan no matter what the Nationalist government does. Samarqand and Bukhara still have majority of Tajik speakers there. And the Bukharian Jews all over the world preserve the Bukharian Jewish language (Judeo-Tajik, Jewish Tajik) in their songs and music and literature. Zaboni mo hamesha zinda khohad bud —– ZABONI MODARI MO ZEBOST!!!
